Follow Up to an Open Letter to the People of New Mexico:

Once again our family has been astounded at the kindness and generosity of the people of New Mexico.

In January of this year we had asked for help in gathering funds for our son-in-law’s (Scott’s) double lung transplant.  The lung transplant has become necessary as a result of his Cystic Fibrosis.

We just wanted to update everyone regarding Scott’s condition and the progress we have made on our fund-raising efforts.  Scott has been on the National transplant waiting list since December of 2002 and is still waiting for the perfect match for his new lungs.  A match is determined by size, tissue type and blood type.  More and more people are realizing the importance of organ donation, however for every person who receives an organ transplant another person dies on the waiting list.

Last year 1,053 people received lung transplants across the nation.  There are currently 3,824 people on the waiting list for lungs.  Scott was told when he was listed that the surgery could take place in a year and a half to two years time.

Scott married our daughter last August, and has spent approximately half of the last year in the hospital.  Scott’s lung capacity has dropped to twenty-eight percent of normal, but he is maintaining a positive attitude.  For the average person twenty-eight percent of lung capacity would be equivalent to climbing to the peak of Mt. Everest every day.

Scott has been passing much of his time in the hospital by working on his oil paintings and writing his autobiography.  One of his paintings “Rapture at Dusk” has been made into prints and is on display and for sale at Medicap Pharmacy for $25.00.  All of the proceeds go directly to Scott’s transplant fund.  Original oil paintings are available at Willow Bay Gallery in Knoxville, TN.

Currently Scott has reached about 40% of his fund-raising goal of $100,000.  Scott has a website where his progress can be tracked at www.scottsfightforlife.com .

Again we just wanted to thank everyone for their support.  Donations can be made to the National Transplant Assistance Fund at : NTAF Suite 230- 3475 West Manchester Pike, Newton Square, PA 19073. * In the memo of your check please write Scott Waller, and remember that no donation is too small.  Every dollar brings us closer to our fund-raising goal and gives Scott renewed hope for his survival.

Thank you and remember “ Don’t take you organs to heaven, heaven knows we need them here”.

                                                -Sincerely,

                                    The Whittleton and Waller Families

'Smart-Bomb' Technology Moving to China - Pentagon Brushes Aside Concerns National Security Will be Threatened
By Sherrie Gossett

Citing national-security concerns, two Democratic lawmakers are engaged in a last-ditch effort to halt plans for the transfer of an Indiana factory that produces critical technology used in the guidance systems of U.S. "smart bombs" to the People's Republic of China.

The Department of Defense denies any impropriety, but some observers are asking: Is it a case of politics as usual, or a cover-up?

The Magnequench factory (originally known as UGIMAG) was sold in August 2000 to a consortium that included Chinese interests. In 2001, it was announced the plant would be shut down.

The factory is responsible for producing 80 percent of the rare-earth permanent magnets used in the guidance systems of U.S. "smart bombs," according to lawmakers.

On Aug. 1, the office of Rep. Pete Visclosky, D-Ind., issued a statement indicating he and Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., were mounting a "last-ditch" effort to halt the factory move to China.

Citing the loss of 225 northwest Indiana jobs, Visclosky also expressed concern over the "transfer of sensitive defense technology to the People's Republic of China."

"We deserve answers not only about the economic impact of this move, but also about the potential threat to national security that it creates," Bayh said.

Both Bayh and Visclosky previously lobbied President Bush and administration officials to look into the Magnequench matter, but received no response.

"We're still trying to get a response," Visclosky press secretary Clifton Brown told WND.

"The congressman is very concerned about the transfer of this kind of technology to a foreign power," Brown said, stating that a supply chokepoint could result "in the event the U.S. becomes involved in a conflict that the Peoples Republic of China doesn't approve of."

"The congressman is very unhappy the administration has taken no interest in this issue at all," he added.

OBJECTIVE SCIENCE DOES NOT EXIST HERE

Serving as a testament to Monsanto's long-term deceptive practices, the

corporation is being accused of fraudulently ignoring and

misinterpreting research data, regarding their new genetically mutated

soybeans. For example, Monsanto has conveniently failed to mention that

their own studies have shown that GE soybeans have a lesser nutritional

value than conventional soybeans and actually inhibited growth in

laboratory mice. In addition, pesticide residue levels were so

dangerously high in the Monsanto's GE soybeans, the corporation is

requesting that food safety regulations be weakened, so the experimental

beans can legally enter the market.
